First 5 Impact Framework

First 5 LA: Impact Framework

First 5 LA is working to ensure that all children in LA County will enter kindergarten ready to succeed in school and life by 2028. To accomplish this, First 5 LA is developing an Impact Framework — a tool to show how their program, policy and advocacy work contributes to better outcomes for all children. The Impact Framework will help track and monitor those outcomes and ensure First 5 LA remains responsive to the needs of LA County’s children.

Children's Data Network (CDN)

The Children’s Data Network is a data and research collaborative focused on the linkage and analysis of administrative records. In partnership with public agencies, philanthropic funders, and community stakeholders, CDN seeks to generate knowledge and advance evidence-rich policies that will improve the health, safety, and well-being of our children.
CDN's Charting the Pathway for Children in Los Angeles County draws on work underway by the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS), in partnership with CDN, to link records across major CHHS programs. This report is based on a Los Angeles-specific longitudinal cohort analysis of linked records for 2015-2018 available through the CHHS record reconciliation. In addition to information on demographics and program enrollment, CDN conducted additional analyses to explore the characteristics and public service interactions of babies born in LA who were 1) enrolled in Medi-Cal and 2) had an open case for Child Welfare Services.

L.A. County Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Data

In Los Angeles County, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) reaches the majority of low-income pregnant women and children under 5, providing nutritious food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health and social services. The L.A. County WIC Data Mining Research Partnership between PHFE WIC and First 5 LA aims to address a critical gap in information about low-income families in L.A. County.
